This publication (in Spanish) presents the comparative results of media market and audience studies conducted in three Central American countries: Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala. It was undertaken by A-01 (A Company / A Foundation) at the request of Free Press Unlimited (FPU), as part of VIMES (Viable Media for Empowered Societies), a project focused on independent media and journalists in Central America and Eastern Europe.
The research aimed to:
- Learn about the current media market in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala.
- Understand how the population perceives the media, and what their news consumption habits are.
- Develop recommendations to improve the viability of independent media
The study also provides recommendations based on the lessons learned.
