Providing an update and addition to their previous work on measuring media viability, Deutsche Welle Akademie presents with this publication an extensive framework to measure media viability across 5 domains (politics, economics, community, technology and content) and 3 levels (environment, networks and organisations). The definition for media viability underlying this practical tool: ‘the ability of media outlets and media landscapes to produce high-quality journalism in a sustainable way’.
This publication contains a discussion paper on the indicators, a detailed list of indicators and a methodology for interviewing media stakeholders about media viability in their context. All three documents can be found on the download link.
Deutsche Welle Akademie also discussed the MVIs in a webinar on June 10, 2020. This webinar can be viewed in full here.
