Fighting Corruption to Improve Schooling: Evidence From a Newspaper Campaign in Uganda

This research provides a case study of how a newspaper campaign that provided schools and parents with information to local officials’ handling of a large education grant program.

The study finds that both student enrollment and achievement increased substantially in schools that, thanks to the information campaign, managed to claim a higher share of their entitlements.
