This report presents the findings of a 2017 assessment of the media environment in South and Southeast Asia. It identifies key needs and challenges for the media, journalists and the general public. It analyses themes such as content production and distribution; physical and digital threats and legal structures for protection; social and gender inequality in relation to media development; Internet and ICTs.
