Annual report of the Dynamic Coalition on the Sustainability of Journalism and News Media of the Internet Governance Forum. Three main points are addressed in the seven chapters of this report: Access to high-quality news and information as a fundamental component to all Sustainable Development Goals; technical and policy decisions made by tech companies and governments that treat the impact on the news media ecosystem as an afterthought and the role policymakers should take into account when weighing internet governance interventions vis-a-vis the news media ecosystem; and the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) as an important venue for discussions on media sustainability and business models because of its global, multidisciplinary, and multi-stakeholder scope. The report also considers the role of the EU in regards to platform regulation in sustaining journalism during COVID-19.
