This report shows that the corona pandemic has had a negative impact on freedom of expression and the media. Problems are populations’ lack of access to relevant information, floods of false news, economic difficulties of media houses, and censorship and repressive measures by governments.

The pandemic has also exposed pre-existing structural weaknesses of modern information ecosystems. This study argues that these ecosystems need to be repaired.
